South Essex boasts thousands of fashionistas who have headed to the catwalk to perform in front of roaring crowds over the decades.
David Gandy, from Billericay, has gone on to become a household name thanks to his work as a model and we have dipped into our photo archives to view some eye-catching trends from the 1980s.
We have seen a host of fashion shows taking place through the years, with the likes of the Basildon Fashion Awards proving incredibly popular.
Stephanie Hanna, a perfumery assistant at previously much-loved store Keddies, chose not to head to the catwalk and instead took to the Southend streets while donning a pair of short shorts to gauge the public’s reaction in the winter of 1984.
She caught shoppers’ attention and even stopped traffic.
Scroll down to see images of that scene and other fashionistas of the 1980s.
