A WOMAN is fighting for her life after being stabbed “multiple times” in Southend.

Essex Police were called to St Marys Court, on Victoria Avenue, in Southend, shortly before 4am this morning.

This was following reports of a woman, in her late teens, sustaining serious injuries.

Officers say the victim is currently in hospital in a life-threatening condition after sustaining multiple stab wounds.

Three men and one woman have been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent and are currently in custody.

Essex Police are urging witnesses and anyone with CCTV footage to come forward.

Det Insp Tracey Golding said: "Residents will see an increased police presence in the area today whilst we are carrying out early enquiries. 

“The victim, a woman in her late teens is currently in hospital after sustaining multiple stab wounds. 

“We are working quickly to establish what has happened and appealing to anyone who may have witnessed anything in the early hours of this morning or have any CCTV, video doorbell footage or dashcam footage to contact us. 

“If you live along Victoria Avenue or the surrounding roads, we’re asking you to check any footage you may have between the hours of 2am and 4am.” 

A spokesman for Essex Police added: “We are appealing for witnesses following a serious assault in Southend this morning. 

“Officers were called to St Marys Court, on Victoria Avenue in Southend shortly before 4am this morning following reports of a woman sustaining serious injuries.
