A HIT-AND-RUN driver is being hunted by police after causing a crash on the A127.
The Mini hit two cars as it swerved in and out of Southend-bound traffic along Progress Road, in Eastwood.
Witnesses reported seeing the Mini switching between lanes during stormy weather on Monday night.
It struck a blue Suzuki Swift and a silver Vauxhall Meriva. The collision caused the Suzuki to spin, hit the barrier before rolling several times, coming to rest on its roof. Amazingly, no-one was seriously hurt.
A spokesman at Rayleigh Weir fire station, whose firefighters attended, said: “There were two people in the Swift. It was very lucky they walked away with only slight injuries. ”
One woman was taken by ambulance to Southend Hospital with a minor arm injury. No one in the Meriva was hurt.
One witness, who did not want to be named, said: “The Mini was full of passengers and was being driven fast, swerving around cars and between lanes. It caused this crash and then drove off. It’s shameful.”
A police spokeswoman said: “We were called at 9.55pm to a collision involving three vehicles. The Mini failed to stop at the scene. Officers put in a rolling road block until about 10.10pm.
“Inquiries are continuing and anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to call police on 101.”
