Group stranded on Thorpe Bay beach in Southend

Echo: Group stranded on beach Group stranded on beach

A GROUP of people had to be rescued from Thorpe Bay beach when their car became stranded in gravel.

Southend Coastguard had to tow the vehicle off the beach with a 4x4 yesterday after the group pulled on to the shingle but couldn’t get off again just before 4.40pm.

The coastguard team took 30 minutes to bring the people and their car safely back to shore.

Not much detail here!! Who exactly were this "group of people"? Why on earth were they driving onto the beach - surely rather a silly thing to do in anyone's book - what were they hoping to do /achieve? All very strange.

Witnessed some numpty who left his car and trailer on the ramp at Dinard and went off for a jolly in his RIB. He went out and the tide came in. Someone called the Pompiers who affixed a chain and dragged the lot up the ramp.

They waited until the owner returned and slapped him with a hefty fine.

Job done.
