Lee Gomes, 31, of Kibcaps, Basildon, admitted assaulting a woman in Basildon on January 6. He was given a community order with a drug rehabilitation requirement and told to pay £100 compensation, £60 victim surcharge and £100 court costs.

Neil Jex, 46, of Maples, Stanford-le-Hope, admitted assault by beating. He was given a four-month prison sentence, suspended for 18 months, for attacking a man in Basildon on December 19. Jex was also ordered to attend aggression replacement classes on 18 days, carry out 40 hours community service and pay £750 compensation.

Danny Hall, 31, of Dowsett Lane, Billericay, admitted driving a Ford Transit van at 40 mph in a 30mph zone in London Road, Wickford, on June 5, last year. He was fined £40, ordered to pay £20 victim surcharge and given three penalty points on his licence.

Darren Haste, 41, of Borrett Avenue, Canvey, admitted driving at 53 mph in a Ford Focus in a 40mph zone on the A127 on June 8 last year. He was fined £40, ordered to pay £20 victim surcharge and given three penalty points on his licence.

Moss Lazarus, 78, of Whitmore Way, Basildon admitted driving a Mercedes E280 at 39mph in a 30mph zone, in Clay Hill Road, Basildon. He was fined £40, ordered to pay £20 victim surcharge and given three penalty points on his licence.

Julian Steele, 44, of Wraysbury, Basildon, admitted using a mobile phone while driving a Ford Transit van on the A127 in Basildon on June 5 last year. He was fined £100, ordered to pay £20 victim surcharge and £90 costs and given three penalty points on his licence.

Daryl Parker, 24, of Southwark Path, Craylands, Basildon, admitted stealing a £68 bottle of perfume from Debenhams, in Basildon, on Christmas Eve. He was fined £220, ordered to pay £22 victim surcharge and court costs of £85.

Thomas Harris, 23, of Copdoek, Basildon, was found guilty of speeding and driving without an MoT. On April 15, last year, he was caught driving at 72mph in Broadmayne, Basildon, where the speed limit is 50mph. Police also found his vehicle has no MoT certificate. He was fined £450, given three penalty points and ordered to pay £45 victim surcharge and £90 costs.

Karen Boys, 48, of Malyons, Basildon, admitted careless driving. Her Vauxhall Zafira hit a stationary vehicle waiting to turn right in Felmores, Basildon, on May 26. She was fined £73 and ordered to pay £20 victim surcharge and £90 costs. She was also given six penalty points on her driving licence.
