A WOMAN was dragged down a Wickford street by a robber.

The victim was returning from work and walking down an alleyway off Wick Beech Avenue when she was approached from behind by a man.

He pushed her to the ground and dragged her as he pulled her bag.

He ran off towards South Beech Avenue with the navy blue Longchamp bag.

It contained a red music player, an e-reader, glasses and a ring.

The attack happened just before 7pm on Monday, February 10.

Investigating Officer, Dc Alex Gartshore, said: "We’re looking to speak with other commuters and evening shoppers who were in the area near the railway line and Southend Road between 6:45-7:15pm and who saw the attack or a man running down a street.

"The thief may have dumped the bag so we’re also keen to find the blue Longchamp holdall which may be lying in bushes or a nearby ditch.

"This woman is angry with this man for stealing her bag and her possession, especially her two sets of glasses.

"She wants him caught and brought to justice just as we do. We therefore ask people to contact us with the information that can lead to the attacker’s identification and subsequent arrest.”

The man was of slim build and approximately 5ft 10ins tall. At the time, he was wearing a hoodie.

The woman sustained minor head, arm and knee injuries.

Anyone with information in connection with this robbery is urged to contact detectives at Basildon police station on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
