CASTLE Point Council has pledged to spend £75,000 on making the borough more attractive next year.

The council is putting together its budget for 2014/15 and has set aside the cash to carry out a series of projects in the community to make Castle Point a nicer place to live.

Now, residents are being invited to have their say on how the cash should be spent in their neighbourhood.

Themoney could be used to improve local parks and open spaces, improve street scene and signs or any other environment projects that will benefit the area.

Colin Riley, Conservative councillor responsible for environment and street scene, said: “People might think more litter bins are a priority, more benches should be provided in town centres, or signs around our neighbourhoods should be improved.

“All legitimate suggestions will be seriously considered in the process of spending the money.”

Residents and community groups should make their suggestions to Trudie Bragg, head of environment, by February 28.

Peter Burch, councillor responsible for leisure, added: “Despite the pressure on budgets we are determined to spend this money on things that will make a noticeable difference to the communities in our borough.”
