FOG which hit the county this morning lingered along the Southend coast most of the day, despite the sunshine beaming down on the land just feet away.
The temperature in Shoebury was eight degrees cooler than in Grays, as a result of the mist.
In Grays it was 16.4 C whereas in Shoebury it was just 7.9 C.
A spokesman for the Essex Weather Centre said: “Coastal fog hasn't cleared from a few places and has limited the temperatures by about half compared to the sunnier areas.”
The fog is forecast to clear completely tomorrow with dry and sunny weather forecast for the afternoon and early evening with highs of 11 C, with bright and breezy conditions predicted for the rest of the weekend.
