YOUNG members of a church which was burnt down last week performed a healing service outside it on Saturday.

Children who belong to the Pathfinders Club connected to the Seventh Day Adventist Church performed a drumming session outside the Northview Drive centre.

The church was subjected to an arson attack in the early hours of last Monday morning with the back section being so badly damaged the congregation has had to move to a new temporary home.

Their drums were stored in the church on the night of the fire, but were left untouched by the blaze.

The drumming was followed by a song and a prayer. Young worshippers also put their thoughts and feelings on paper to be displayed on the boards and windows.

The church’s youth leader, Christopher Khuoge, said: “Our children have expressed shock at the incident and that is why this part concentrates on the children and young people.”

Anyone with information about the fire can call DC Mike Buckingham at Southend Police Station on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
