A BENFLEET tyre company has scooped a top borough business prize.

Jet Wheel Tyre, in Church Road, was announced as the Castle Point Business of the Year on Saturday in front of 160 guests at the annual Castle Point Mayor’s Awards.

Mayor Maryse Iles made the announcement at Runnymede Hall and also declared Jack Sweetenham, of Castle Point Association of Voluntary Services (CAVS), as the Apprentice of the Year.

Jet Wheel Tyre showcased its Buy with Confidence Scheme, and invested in staff training meaning all customers benefit from this commitment to service.

Jet Wheel Tyre pipped DOTS Ltd, experts in the copier and print industry, to the top prize.

Previous winners of the prize include Castle Point Motors and Williams Optometrists.

Jack took the award for his key contribution to the successful operation of the CAVS Children’s Centres. His support for the most vulnerable families in Castle Point was judged outstanding by the judging panel.

Joe White, of Canvey- based Estate and Letting agent, Wilsonwood Properties Ltd, was the runner up.

The search for the outstanding businesses and apprentices of Castle Point for the 2015 award will begin in the Autumn.
