ST John Ambulance is appealing for new volunteers for their Hawkwell and Hockley unit.

Unit manager Amanda Bradley want to hear from adult volunteers who want to receive full first aid training, leading to them working with the charity at events.

The unit provide first aid cover at a number of different types of event including school fêtes, bonfire nights, cross country races and much more.

Ms Bradley said: “There's nothing quite like knowing that you have the skills to save someone and be the difference between a life lost and a life saved.”

“The Hawkwell and Hockley unit has a busy few months ahead of it so we're keen to hear from local people who can join us and help out.

“As most of the events we cover are at weekends this works very well for people who have weekday jobs.”
