A MUM from Canvey is organising a sponsored charity walk to raise money for a five-yearold girl suffering from cancer.

Melissa Glover, of Rochford Road, will be holding a charity fancy dress fundraiser around the seawall on Canvey.

She wants to get more residents involved with the walk and is hoping to raise at least £200 for Summer Allen, who is suffering from neuroblastoma.

Summer, from Yorkshire, was diagnosed at three with a tumor in the nervous system.

Miss Glover is hoping to raise awareness of the illness and at the same time is eager to raise as much money as possible for Summer.

She said: “We complain of small things and there are children out there who are really suffering.

“Summer only has a 20 per cent chance of pulling through, so to give her and her family a small gift that could maybe help take them on holiday, or go abroad for further treatment would be a bonus.”

Miss Glover is hoping to hold the sponsored walk in pyjamas and fancy dress.

The event is set to take place on Saturday, June 14.
