THOUSANDS of people came together to celebrate wildlife on Canvey.
Canvey Town Council hosted a Wildlife Day with RSPB South Essex at West Canvey Marsh.
BBC’s One Showwoldlife expert Mike Dilger also visited the event and led nature walks around the marsh.
Children took part in pond dipping and bug hunting throughout the day.
The event aimed to teach people about the wildlife at the nature reserve.
Chairman of the town council, Peter May, said: “The weather stayed dry all day and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.
“This was our fifth annual Wildlife Day.
“It was a great educational event for the children and having Mike Dilger to lead walks around the site and talking to people about wildlife really added to the event.
“Thanks to all the volunteers for helping to make the day run so smoothly and the groups which took part.”
