AN award-winning head teacher was presented with his prize by Rayleigh and Wickford MP, Mark Francois.
Andy Hodgkinson, head at Sweyne Park School, Rayleigh, was awarded a Silver Secondary Headteacher of the Year Award.
The award was one of just four to be handed out across the country. Mr Hodgknison will be put forward for a national award.
Part of the Pearson Teaching Awards, the prize highlights exceptional teaching and the life-changing impact teachers make on the lives of their pupils.
Mr Francois said: “I was delighted to hear Andy Hodgkinson had been awarded a Silver Award.
“Andy has consistently raised standards at Sweyne Park and has successfully led the school through a transition to acquiring Academy Status and creating a sixth-form.
