STUDENTS brought an array of furry friends to a dementia centre.
Eight students from Seevic College, in Runnymede Chase, Thundersley, visited the Silver Birch Centre, in Kiln Road, Thundersley, with a few extra special guests as part of a pet therapy session.
The students, who all study animal care, brought animals including a snake, rabbit, hedgehog and a type of guinea pig.
The visit was organised by Lorna Bartlett, animal care and management tutor, from Seevic College.
She said: “Through experiences like this, our students are able to see the impact animals can have on people’s lives and the enjoyment they bring.”
Angela Allum, centre manager, said: “I was planning to organise a pet therapy session at the centre, then I met Lorna and she offered to bring in the animals from the college – it’s been a great experience for our clients.”
The centre offers specialist day care for people with dementia, currently providing respite care three days a week.
