A BRAZEN thief who tried to steal a man's car from his driveway ran off after he was spotted by the owner.

The male owner was in his house, in Link Road, Canvey, when he noticed the man trying to steal his car.

The thief had entered the property through the front door and taken the car keys to the Ford.

The man confronted the thief, who then ran away.

Detectives have released an Efit of the man.

It happened at around 4.30am on June 2.

The man is described as white, early 20s, dark hair and beard wearing blue tracksuit bottoms, a white T shirt and gloves.

Anyone who recognises the man or has any information is asked to contact Dc Glen Crosby at Southend CID on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
