SIX easyJet flights to and from Southend Aiport to European destinations have been cancelled due to a strike by French air traffic controllers.
Flights affected are for Malaga, Amsterdam and Geneva.
A spokesman for easyJet said: "Six flights have been cancelled to and from Southend. As 65 per cent of easyJet's network travels through French air space we advise all passengers travelling today to be prepared for delays and to check the status of their flight on www.easyJet.com or viat the easyJet flight tracker before leaving for the airport.
"We strongly advise all passengers affected by cancellations not to travel to the airport today as the availability of accommodation is scarce."
The spokesperson added: "We are extremely disappointed that our passengers have been affected by this unnecessary strike and despite this being beyond the airline's control, we apologise for the inconvenience caused.
Passengers are being informed of the cancellations by text message.
