Man attacked by gang of 50 in Felmores, Pitsea, after he asked them to keep the noise down

Echo: Felmores: Man attacked by gang of 50 teens after he asked them to keep the noise down Felmores: Man attacked by gang of 50 teens after he asked them to keep the noise down

A GANG of teenagers surrounded a man and battered him with bottles and fence posts in a vicious attack.

Neighbours said the teens ripped off their shirts and were screaming“like animals” as they laid into the man when he asked them to keep the noise down.

The 48-year-old victim needed five stitches to his head, after suffering a two inch cut that was so deep it went through to his skull.

A 50-strong gang were in the alleyway, which runs through the middle of Moretons and Beambridge, in Pitsea, at about 11pm on Saturday. One neighbour, who did not want to be named, said: “They were acting like animals. It was horrific. The kids ripped down the bloke’s fence and were beating him with his own fence posts and broken bottles.

“He had blood running down his face. Some of the teenagers were taking off their shirts to fight. I would say there was between 25 and 50 teenagers out there.”

Two other neighbours were also attacked, after they came out to help. A 21- year-old man suffered a cut to his head, while a 24-yearold man had a cut to the right side of his head.

The violence happened after the teenagers tried to gatecrash a party at a nearby house.

They began causing a nuisance, throwing bottles and damaging residents’ fences.

When the 48-year-old victim went out and asked them to be quiet the gang turned on him.

Witnesses reported seeing a teenage girl holding her jaw as if she had been attacked and police are appealing for the young woman to contact them.

Another resident added: “It’s disgusting. The teenagers were just out of control. It woke up my young children. For them to see something like this, it’s not right.”

Essex Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact Det Con Angela Toppin at Basildon CID on 101.

Point being that the police seem to be few and far between in areas where they are most needed, even as a visible deterrent, and in abundance in more affluent neighbourhoods. Wake up.

I am surprised somebody wasn't killed there to be honest. Thank God they weren't, but this has now crossed the line.

Indeed. I once cycled to a city pub one evening from Fenchurch Street, I was stopped twice by Police, everything was legit on my bike, on the road, lights, etc.. I know the City has its own police force but very rarely do you see any police presence in your street.

Many parents need to start parenting and guiding children to be a good teen-adult. Too many parents are too busy up the pub, or in front of Tv letting the kids get on with it. Parents should teach kids good values & be good role models. What hope is there for these kids living without rules & good guidance!

When I was a teenager in Laindon, we used to have fights, generally pre-aranged and not normally where other people habitated. Laindon v Dagenham, Laindon v Pitsea (normally took place at Canvey) and so on. It normally hurt, but at least all involved were stupid and proud, but it did not hurt anyone else!
I venture to suggest something on the lines of national service, but not milatary, because the gathering war mongers here and in the states would take that as a signal to start a war!

It would be wishful thinking to believe we Society can actually stop this type of ever increasing behaviour because we currently cannot the simple reason being we have simply lost our backbone.

We expect the Police to deal with it which means the Police would need to use violence to end violence.

Unfortunately when the a Police do use violence towards lawless people there is now a big public outcry and that starts yet another enquiry into conduct of the Police with huge resources being put into investigating the Police who often seek hard to get police convictions because it enhances careers for police investigators.

It is cheaper and less aggravation to see a a Police Officer being injured by thugs rather than a Police Officer using ANY form of violence, which is something akin with our system unlike in Spain or France where Police use violence to control mob rule.

A a society we have lost the plot the real culprits are the thugs that commit these anti social crimes not police officers who normally get blamed for the loss of police action or even being heavy handed.

However even if the police get these thugs to court they are let down badly by a failing criminal justice system in the majority of cases.

And even if convicted the system is more worried about prison life than the outside world right to live normally, only this morning on BBC breakfast time a do gooder from the Howard penal reform group was complaining about young offenders having their cell lights turned off at 10.30pm and not seeing anyone for hours.
Will as far as a I am concerned they should have no lights in their cells, I am sorry to say the academic elite class are destroying my world with their do gooding beliefs that are simply not working.

In my book a t-u-r-d is a t-u-r-d until they respect the rights of others and not just their selfish and violent own.

If any gang needs to rule the street please let it be The Police gang at least they are answerable to the public.

It would be useful if people got onside with the front line police. If anybody has been watching the BBC documentary on Sheffield Police and the new Government initiative, where they want to get far more out of those front line Police, far more with less pay and higher discipline for failure. then watch them make the moves, catch the worst scumbag of the thieves, and then watch as they react to him being released the very next day on a "Behave yourself for the next twelve months" order!
But please also notice the amount of braid sitting at their desks in their never-ending meetings to discuss how well the troops are doing. (Including the new communist style "Political Policeman.")
"Chiefs and Indians" comes to mind, as does the MD's favourite when accused of hogging all the money: "Pay peanuts and you get monkeys!" Well as the front line get more and more devalued, watch out for the chimpanzees putting on the uniform!
