Man stabbed in leg during street robbery

THUGS stabbed a man in the leg during a terrifying street robbery.

The 24 year-old was walking through Shoebury Park, off Elm Road, Shoebury, when he was approached by two men.

They produced a knife and stabbed the victim in the leg, before stealing his camera, mobile phone and wallet.

Following the attack, which took place at about 7pm yesterday, the thieves fled out of the park and in the direction of the huge Asda supermarket.

Dc Dan Hedges, investigating officer, said: "This man had been walking on a pathway next to the skate ramp when these two other men came up to him and robbed him of his belongings. They then ran off towards the new block of flats near Asda.

“We’re looking to hear from anyone who saw the attack.

“We believe this was an isolated assault.”

The victim was treated at the scene by paramedics, but did not require hospital treatment.

Police believe the two attackers used the knife to scare the man into handing over his belongings, and did not intend to seriously hurt him.

The pair are described as white, and in their late teens or early 20s.

One was of slim build, approximately 6ft 2ins tall, had blonde or ginger hair and wore a blue jumper over his face at the time.

His accomplice had brown hair, was approximately 5ft 8ins tall and had a distinctive wide nose.

Anyone with information in connection with the street robbery is urged to contact detectives at Southend police station on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.

Sensible comment confirmed in that he didn't need hospital treatment.

Regardless, a violent mugging of an innocent member of the community should not be tolerated. There has obviously been a fair amount of 'cleaning' in the southend area over the past year or so, mainly reserved for new arrivals from London or different parts of the globe. This behaviour needs to be dealt with sharpish.

welcome to tory britain where people are so poor they have to violently rob others. im definitely not condoning what they have done and i hope their victim recovers from the horrific ordeal but i fear this sort of thing will only get worse thanks to the tories cutting peoples benefits for any little thing driving them to desperate measures just to survive. of course the tories will do what they always do and blame labour whilst scrounging more off the tax payer via expenses perks etc :(

You sure? I can't stand the Tories more than anyone. This horrific attack on an innocent man, has nothing to do with this corrupt, I'm in it for me government. It's more to do with the dregs of society, as per their upbringing, feeling a little bit special to bring a bit of intimidation and violence against an innocent person.
To blame this on the Tories is ok with me, but if there are scum about, no matter what their political thinking(if they have any) this should not be happening.
I hope this man recovers soon, and the pondlife that attacked him gets the retribution they deserve.

Oh ! Thats all right then. They were only playing. A knife is a weapon, and if they used it to rob the poor sod, they should be dealt with severely if and when they are caught. Although, judging by the stories in the Echo, they won't be caught, or if they are , they will get off with a telling off and a holiday in Clacton for two weeks, courtesy of the tax payer.

Then get off their lazy fat a*ses and get a job then! This isnt about politics, its about self respect and only having kids when you can afford them etc. Why should I as a tax payer fund their lazy lifestyle? Think about what you have said.
Scum of the earth these people are and I hope what goes around, comes around!
