A TEENAGER from North London has been charged with the murder of Hassan Mohammed Ibrahim in Southend last Monday, July 7.

Tajwar Alam, 18, of Seaford Road, London, has been charged with murder and possession of a bladed instrument.

Alam, a student, will appear before magistrates at Southend tomorrow.

A 17-year-old boy, also from North London, has been charged with firearms offences and possession of cannabis with intent to supply and will also appear before Southend magistrates on Monday.

A separate 17-year-old from Southend who was arrested in connection with the murder on Friday night is still aiding police with their enquiries and remains at Southend Police station.

In a tribute released today, his family said: "Hassan was a very friendly, caring person. He grew from a boy into a man and was a protector and best friend to his family. He was loved by all but especially by his two nieces who adored their Uncle Hass immensely.

"We pray that justice is served and that he soon will be able to rest in peace.”

A remaining 17-year-old from North London, who was arrested last Wednesday, has been released in relation to the murder but is out on police bail pending further enquiries for possession of an offensive weapon and assisting an offender.

Mr Mohammed, 24, of Camberwell, London, died in hospital on Tuesday, July 8 following an incident in York Road, Southend, at around 7pm on Monday, July 7.

He was stabbed twice and a post mortem revealed a provisional cause of death as blood loss resulting from his wounds.
