A NEW bike hire scheme has been launched in Southend.
The Comfy Saddle, in Southend Central Station, is hiring out bikes for less than £10.
The not-for-profit community interest company is offering town bikes for men and women to use for £9.99 for two hours, £16.99 for a day. Week-long hire can also be negotiated.
It plans to offer children’s bikes and specially adapted bikes for people with particular needs in future.
Manager Nigel Dryden said: “It’s here to offer the opportunity for people who come to visit our town or live here to borrow a bike and enjoy the benefits that bikes offer.”
James Duddridge, MP for Rochford and Southend East, said: “I am delighted to support this great scheme operated by the Comfy Saddle and supported by c2c.
“The Comfy Saddle is easily accessed by local residents and tourists and I look forward to seeing these bikes being ridden across the town.”
