This sort of heavy rain flooding happened in August last year, what has happened with all the work on the drainage dykes and new pumping stations since then ?
The Police helicopter was overhead, with a loudspeaker message saying the environment agency had restarted the pumping stations, this was at 4PM, why so long ? lots of questions, lots of damaged/flooded homes, too little to late for those affected.

Sorry, but what else can you expect from Part-Time Police these days?

Seriously, I hope everybody is safe on Canvey, as I remember 1953 and little was done then to prevent it happening, and big bods always say precautions will be taken to prevent it happening again, while Nothing gets done due to costs involved.

Why were the pumps turned off? If a storm is coming, turn them on just in case? No one expected it to be as bad as it was but better over-prepare then fix it later.
Also totally unacceptable that the firefighters strike still took place at the peak of the flooding.

Police ? not their fault, try the Environment Agency, they had to be summoned to turn the pumping stations on, hours after the storm had passed, heads need to roll with that bunch of incompetent ninnies of the Environment Agency.

What people need to remember is that while what happened on canvey is unfortunate, the storms cause wide spread flooding and destruction not just across the region but across the country, mainly the east coast and that we have had storm after storm, no one could have predicted it was going to be as bad as it was and no one could know for sure where these storms were going to hit

Thanks to the environment agency, for being so complacent - and bloody useless, something they do well.
