A POST Office has been closed for a revamp.

Belfairs Post Office in Eastwood Road North, Leigh will close on Tuesday, August 19 at 5.30pm for a refurbishment.

It will open again on Friday, August 29 at 1pm after which it will offer extended opening hours of 9am to 5.30pm, Monday to Saturday.

Kevin Shepherd, area manager said: “We know how important Post Office services are to residents in and we are confident this vibrant modern Post Office at the heart of the community will be popular.

“The modernisation is part of a major Government investment programme that is enabling us to continue investing in the Post Office network and to map out a bold growth strategy through to the end of the decade.”

The Post Office will have an open-plan position and a modern screened position. It will no longer close at lunchtime or on Wednesday and Saturday afternoons.

Customers will be able to do everything from cash withdrawals from a Post Office Card Account, sending funds abroad using Moneygram, paying bills, buying holiday money, getting insurance, mortgages, savings and top up mobile phones.

They will also be able to access the full range of Post Office and mails services, including international parcels, special delivery, Local Collect and home shopping returns.

Nearby alternative offices during the closure include Eastwood Post Office, 356 Rayleigh Road, Leigh and Leigh Post Office, 24-28 Rectory Grove, Leigh.

The service, which will launch on Friday 29 August at 1pm, will be provided one open-plan position and modern screened position.

The improvements are part of major modernisation programme across the Post Office network designed to make it easier for customers to do business, through longer opening hours and modern open plan environments.
