A WEATHER warning for heavy thundery showers in Essex has been issued by the Met Office.
The yellow warning for the east of England says isolated thundery downpours may occur during the early hours of Monday morning with further thunderstorms are likely to develop and a chance of hail and risks of localised surface water flooding.
The warning said: “As often happens in such situations, many places could miss the worst of the downpours, The showers should due out quite quickly in the evening.”
A Met Office forecaster said: “A deeply unstable airmass will cover southeastern areas of England on Monday.
“Although some isolated downpours may occur in the early hours of Monday, the main risk will probably be during the day as temperatures rise, triggering further heavy showers and thunderstorms.
“These may become focused into slow-moving narrow bands, meaning that whilst some areas experience locally intense downpours giving up to 25 mm in an hour, adjacent areas could stay dry.”
