TK Maxx's new Basildon store will open next month, it has been revealed.

Bosses of the retail giant said they will be creating 46 new jobs in the area thanks to the new store opening at Pipps Hill Retail Park, off Miles Grey Road.

The size of three football pitches, it will fill the empty unit left by PC World and Currys, which moved into a bigger unit left empty when Comet closed in 2012.

As well as selling men's, women's and children's wear it will also have homeware.

The new store will open at 9am on Thursday, August 21.

TK Maxx Communications Manager, Lucy McGonigle said: "We are very excited to be opening up a new store and bringing Basildon's shoppers savings on great brands and labels for all the family under one roof."

The national retailer, which also has stores at Lakeside and Southend's Royals Shopping Centre, will be the borough's only TKMaxx store, providing a much-needed shot in the arm to Basildon's economy.
