I thought removing the 5 mini roundabouts was supposed to make this junction safer !!

There seems just as many accident now then before they did the alterations.

Elderly? In his fifties? Would a 60 plus year old be classed as a Methuselah then?
Age is rarely a factor in road accidents, but whether we like it or not we all get older and usually manage to drive without problems. You on the other hand won't get old, will you? But if you do you won't drive after 50 will you?

People in their 50`s are NOT elderly, unless you`re under 20!! it`s still middle aged, and as far as l`m concerned old age starts around 67, although having said that you`re as old as you feel, and l know some very fit and healthy people in their late 60`s and also some very unhealthy, overweight and inactive people in their 40`s, it all depends on the lifestyle WE choose !

That J/N has improved it is safer it is drivers that cause accidents.

There is one iffy section though :

It is very confusing for strangers, drivers travelling towards the East from the old London Road are forced to stop at a set of traffic lights, when the lights turn green cars can only moved forward a few metres and are then forced to stop at the j/n to give way to those using the roundabout travelling from the Canvey direction.
I have seen many near misses because drivers believe they have the right to go as soon as the lights turn to green.

I have to say, most of the barmpot driving I've personally seen has come from under 25s. I have seen this age group wrap their cars around more lamp posts than anyone else.

That said, I agree with the person above who says age is not necessarily a factor. In this case as in many, it's a total irrelevance.

When I lived in Crays Hill, I saw people driving vans whilst obviously p*ssed and they were mainly under 40s but that was more to do with total disregard for the law and other people, rather than age.

Idiotic driving comes from a range of age groups and is not the preserve of the over fifties.

I drive like an idiot all the time. But have never wrapped my car around a lamp post. I hope you reported these drink drivers to the police Kim. You letting a crime go like that? Surely not. Or did you pull them over yourself and give these drivers a lecture about how dangerous drink driving is?
