A MAN has suffered serious head injuries during a brawl broke outside a singles night.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses to the assault which happened outside the Rayleigh Golf Club in Hullbridge Road, Rayleigh at 1.30am on Saturday.

Three men from Corringham and Langdon Hills were injured.

One of the men, a 29-year-old from Corringham, suffered serious head injuries and was taken to Southend Hospital.

He is in a stable condition and his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

The attack happened outside a nightclub which is attached to the golf club.

The club was holding a singles party and it is believed an incident may have taken place in the club earlier in the night which then escalated outside.

Dc Glen Crosby of Southend CID said: “Enquiries are continuing and we are going through CCTV and witnesses statements.

“However, I would ask anyone who has not spoken to police so far to come forward.

“They may have seen what happened outside or they may have witnessed something inside the club earlier in the evening.”

The police helicopter was used to search the area for five men, who witnesses said had left the scene after the incident.

Anybody with any information is asked to contact Dc Glen Crosby at Southend CID via Essex Police 101 or they can call independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
