WOMEN are being invited to consider port work and climb to the top of London Gateway’s new high-tech cranes.
DP World has announced a further 50 jobs at its newly-opened international container terminal and wants as many women as men to apply for the terminal operative positions, which involve manning cranes and vehicles to move goods from ship to shore.
Simon Moore, DP chief executive, said: “We have a number of women in our team, but not as many as we would like.”
One of those taking the plunge into port work is former beautician Nicki Allabush from Stanford-le-Hope, who has been a terminal operative for 18 months.
She said: “I absolutely love the challenge this job offers.”
Details of the job can be found at londongateway.com/ careers
