FIVE cars were damaged after an elderly man allegedly lost control of his car in a Tesco car park.
Emergency services were called to the Tesco Extra store at Hazelmere, Pitsea, at about 11.20am, on Tuesday, after a Ford Mondeo ploughed in to five parked cars.
It is thought the Mondeo driver, who is aged in his eighties, may have hit the accelerator pedal instead of the brake.
The elderly driver was not seriously hurt, but was treated by paramedics for shock.
He was taken to Basildon Hospital as a precaution.
The cars damaged in the incident included a blue Mercedes E270, a silver Jaguar S Type, a Smart Car and a Ford Focus Ghia.
Police received numerous calls about the incident.
Nobody else was injured in the collision.
Essex Police are investigating the circumstances leading up to the crash.
