THE secret life of the animals at Hadleigh Farm can new be viewed online.

The Salvation Army’s Hadleigh Rare Breeds Centre has just launched its first webcam, allowing anyone interested to see its animals, 24 hours a day.

Visitors to the farm’s website will be able to keep up with with the comings and going of animals, including Banjo, the African pygmy albino hedgehog, Tommy the Hermann’s tortoise and a whole clutch of rare breed chicks as they hatch.

Centre manager Emma Sayers said: “We are hoping our visitors will get more of an inside experience by watching the animals in their natural habitat.

“The camera will be moved around the farm to different animals and we hope viewers will even get to see some of the eggs hatching in our incubator.”

In the next few weeks, viewers will be able to watch Tommy the tortoise’s day-to-day routine and will see a new billygoat meet the animals on the farm.

The rare breed centre brings together a variety of rare breed animals and aims to educate visitors about the breeds is working to preserve.

The centre is open to the public daily from April until September, and at weekends only in October.

Miss Sayers said: “At our Rare Breeds Centre, we teach our trainees and visitors about the animals native to the UK which are declining.

“They can also meet those we are working to preserve. Our trainees learn to care for and work with these animals as a part of their studies.”
