A ROAD accident in Rayleigh required three people to be taken to hospital on Saturday evening.

Three ambulance crews were called to the scene on Queens Road at 5.53pm, after a collision involving two vehicles.

Firefighters from Rayleigh were also called to the crash at 5.59pm and used two sets of specialist cutting equipment, releasing the casualties by 7.06pm.

An ambulance spokeswoman said: "All three patients were complaining of back pain, and were taken to Southend Hospital for further treatment."
