A 14-YEAR-OLD boy has been arrested following a gun scare in Westcliff.
Officers swooped to Tintern Avenue at about 7.55pm on Saturday after receiving reports of a teenage boy with a gun firing shots.
A 14-year-old boy from Leigh was arrested on suspicion of possession of firearms offences and released on bail until September 22, pending further enquiries.
A BB gun was seized.
A witness reported seeing armed officers and two large police vehicles pulling up outside a house in the road.
During the evening, residents took to social media to question the prolonged presence of the police helicopter overhead.
