CHILDREN at Basildon Hospital were kept busy with games and fun to mark National Play in Hospital Week.

Two-year-old Amelia Dixon from Basildon, was attending hospital for an injection, but found time to take care of the dolls in the hospital playroom.

Specialist play staff Laura Ryan, Chantel Taylor and Samantha Clarke organised fun and games with a medical theme, including plastering dolls and bandaging teddies, to celebrate the event organised by the National Association of Health Play Specialists and Starlight Children’s Foundation.

Laura said: “We always have a great range of games, toys and activities for children and young people in our playroom, and National Play Week is a good opportunity to highlight the importance of play and activity in their treatment.”
