TALENTED young people who win prizes at Southend Musical Festival will receive new trophies and cash thanks to a donation in memory of a past mayor.
Trophies - Louise Manders with the trophy and pupils at Crowstone Preparatory School, Westcliff
The trophies, donated by the Beryl Scholfield Memorial Fund, will be presented annually.
Mrs Scholfield's daughter, Louise Manders, showed them to pupils at Crowstone Prep School, in Westcliff, where she is head of drama.
She said: "My mother endlessly encouraged young people of the town in all aspects of the arts so it is with great pleasure her memorial fund is donating these trophies."
The trophies will be presented for the first time on November 17 at Crowstone Christian Centre, Westcliff.
