In the Gazette, (August 24) Clacton MP Douglas Carswell said: “Stop culture of celebrity czars”.

Philip Green is the perfect choice for the tawdry Tories, who have doubled aid for Pakistan, seemingly at the expense of pensioner benefits, such as fuel allowances and the bus pass.

As for Tory MP Priti Patel’s concern for the economic climate, this does not seem to be affecting controversial hedge fund gifts to the Tories of £500,000.

As always, a Conservative Government is an organised hypocrisy.

Bob Russell would be wise to defect to Labour, because when this coalition unravels, I doubt there will be a Liberal seat left.

Governments can only last as long as the under-taxed can defend themselves against the over-taxed, which makes the Green appointment an obituary for David Cameron.
