  • Dog killer may face eviction from Southend flat

    A MAN who threw his dog to its death from a tenth-storey window could be kicked out of his flat. South Essex Homes is looking into whether it can prevent James Bray from returning to Sutton Court, Southend, after he leaves prison. The Echo reported yesterday how Bray, 24, had been jailed for four months and banned from owning pets for life. It came after he threw his Staffordshire bull terrier, Deano, out of the window of his home. The animal died when it hit the ground. Bray admitted three counts under the Animal Welfare Act. He had previously brandished a samurai sword at a woman in the communal area of the block, and received a community order for possession of an offensive weapon. Southend Magistrates’ Court heard he had mental health issues, but these had no influence on what he had done to the dog. Simon Putt, group manager for finance and support service for South Essex Homes, said: “With regard to Mr Bray, we are currently seeking legal advice as to what action we can take regarding his tenancy.” read more
