Job Title: Senior Reporter, Colchester
Department: Editorial
Responsible to: Editor

Main Objectives:

• Writing high-quality copy in accordance with Newsquest (Essex) editorial code of practice and style.

• Provide a variety of stories for the weekly Essex County Standard, the daily Gazette and other titles as required, including news, features, backgrounders and off-diary stories.

• To be capable of working on their own initiative.

• Provide story, picture and campaign ideas.

Job Requirements:

• To produce fast and accurate copy from whatever job assigned to.

• The type of work required will be wide ranging and the job holder will be expected to file copy to deadlines to both the Essex County Standard, daily and other titles in the group. Reports will also be filed for the website.

• To take photographs and video footage if required.

• To work outside regular hours, at weekends, at short notice and be flexible with working patterns.

• To aid Newsquest’s other media businesses, e.g. websites, broadcasting.

To work for whichever office as directed by the editor.
