U2 tribute band set to play at Riga

10:00pm Wednesday 17th February 2010

FANS of Bono and co are likely to do a double take when U2-2 perform in Westcliff this weekend.

The tribute act, who formed in 1993 and bear a remarkable likeness to the Irish band, play the Riga Music Bar, on Saturday.

U2-2 originally started out under the name of the Original Achtung Baby.

Between 1993 and 1999 the band played hundreds of gigs across Britain, Ireland, Europe and the Middle East.

They even played alongside U2 at the Feyenoord Stadium, in Rotterdam, in 1997.

After an eight-year break the boys reformed in 2008, and a year later were featured on the BBC as part of the warm up to U2’s 360 degree tour at Sheffield’s Don Valley Stadium.

This is their debut performance at the Riga, in Milton Road.

Doors open at 8.30pm and tickets are £7.
