MUSICIANS bidding for the big time will be entertaining Saturday shoppers in Southend’s Victoria shopping centre for the next five weeks.
Last week, the Seasiders, SOS, Walk in Coma and Callum were among the hopefuls who performed in the Summer Sessions.
Tomorrow, Kelly Donovan, 3 Dreams, Mantaray, Kate Claussen, Stewart Rayment and Kahil ksb will be bidding for stardom.
Centre director Jonathan Poole said: “The Summer Sessions are going fantastically well and everybody in the centre is looking forward to the next few Saturdays.
“I’m delighted the Victoria is able to offer our young hopefuls the chance to perform to the public in a fun and friendly atmosphere.”
Five or six acts will take to the stage every Saturday until August 28.
Alex Adlington, lead singer of Walk in Coma said: “Playing at a shopping centre was quite an unusual gig for us, but we thought there was a fun atmosphere and it was great to play on a Saturday afternoon.”
All the bands performing will be filmed and streamed through the Summer Sessions Gallery as well as appearing on a dedicated Facebook page.
Friends and fans will judge each session via Facebook http://apps.facebook.com/summer sessions The artist with the highest rating will win the competition. The winners will spend a day in a recording studio, record a single and produce their own CD.
