NHS chief executive stands down

A HEALTH boss has stood down with immediate effect after little over a year as a trust chief executive.

Professor Graham Ramsay, chief executive of mid Essex Hospital services NHS Trust, took the position in September 2009.

Yesterday it was announced he had taken the personal decision to step down from the role to pursue new challenges within the NHS.

Professor Sheila Salmon, chair of mid Essex Hospital Services NHS Trust, said: “I respect Graham’s decision to stand down at this time to pursue new challenges and would like to pay tribute to the hard work that he has put into this role and his dedication to the trust over the past 16 months.”

The search is on for Mr Ramsay’s replacement.

In the interim period Malcolm Stamp CBE will be the acting chief executive.

He has been with the trust since August 2010 as the director of transformation.

The trust, which employees over 3,800 staff, provides services from four sites in and around Chelmsford, Maldon and Braintree.
