GET yourself down to Southend on Friday and you could see the next big thing.

Auditions are being held at Bar Bluu to find the future stars of the house and electro world and the shortlisted few who perform could bag themselves a record deal.

The night has been organised by Basildon-based label Static Delight, which is co-owned by Matthew Moore and Stuart Kettridge, owner of Rascall's Records in the town centre.

The duo, who also go by the names of DJs Tastie and Rascall, set up the record label a year ago and are now relishing the chance to let some other people share the limelight.

Normally, they have a monthly slot at Bar Bluu but as part of this week's auditions, the pair will be letting some up-and-coming acts loose on the decks.

Trevor Izzard, DJ Triple S, Ryan B and DJ Reflex are the four lucky locals who could walk away with a Static Delight contract on Friday but in order to do so, they will have to prove their worth in front of some superstar guest DJs.

Scott Garcia - famed for It's a London Thing - will be in the house this Friday alongside garage act Lickrish Music, performing the hit Over with You.

Speaking about the auditions, Matthew, 25, said: "We've had loads of people come into the shop and play their CDs but this weekend, we'll only be presenting the ones we've approved.

"We'll be judging the music by how the crowd reacts and seeing what each artist could bring to the label.

"We set up the auditions to try and get more people out there and it's great that we've got Scott Garcia and Lickrish Music coming down. It should be a good night!"
