MAN of the moment Peter Andre will launch Southend’s new nightclub Element tonight.
The Aussie singer, recently divorced from glamour model Jordan, will appear at the refurbished club, formerly Bakers Bar, in Alexandra Street, Southend.
Andre will be performing tracks from his new album Revelation, which entered the charts at number three this week, and includes hit single Behind Closed Doors.
“He is the most famous man in the country at the moment, so that was the motivation behind getting him down,” says Tom Gowans, operations manager at the club.
“For us, it’s a sign of things to come, and we think the atmosphere is going to be absolutely electric.”
The Mysterious Girl singer will kick off the night’s proceedings at the club, which underwent a £2million makeover during the summer.
As part of the revamp, the capacity has been increased from 920 to 1,500, plus new lighting and a state-of-the-art dance floor, said to be the only one of its kind in the country, has been installed.
The venue also hosts three VIP areas, each with waitress service, and is decorated in styles inspired by clubs in Spain and Los Angeles.
Tom says: “We believe there is a market for an independent club with a different feel. It’s the most unique venue in the town.”
The club is hoping to attract chart-topping artists and TV stars to perform in the coming weeks.
About 1,000 tickets have already been sold for tonight’s event, but fans hoping to catch a glimpse of Peter Andre can still get in on the door.
Tom adds: “It’s not a ticket-only event, but we would advise everyone to come early.”
Entry is £10. For more information, visit www.elementnightclub.co.uk
