DJ Scott Mills in charge of a hot tub party

RADIO favourite Scott Mills wil kickstart Element’s latest club night with a live set. The DJ, best known for hosting the Scott Mills Show on BBC Radio 1’s drivetime slot, will launch Cheeky Thursdays, on December 5.

He will play a special set at the club, in Alexandra Street, Southend, on Thursday.

Aside from his popular radio job, Scott often presents TV programmes like the National Lottery, and even took his own show, Scott Mills the Musical, to the Edinburgh Festival this summer.

Steve Cochrane, promotions manager at Element, says: “He’s a hard DJ to book and we’re really pleased he’s coming down.

“He’ll be playing his favourite tracks from Radio 1 and his own collection during an hour-long set.

“Then he’ll stick around afterwards to sign autographs and chat to clubbers.”

Organisers say the new night is centred around a party atmosphere and to mark the opening night they’re bringing in two hot tubs for revellers to enjoy.

As well as free admission for birthday parties, there’ll be live PAs, fancy dress themes and plenty of giveaways over the coming weeks.

“The idea behind Cheeky Thursdays is to create the best party night in town,” says Steve.

“The music choice will be across the board, but there’s going to be lots of party-orientated music with club classics and current pop tunes.

“We’re launching it with a hot tub party and people should be dressed to get wet!”

Cheeky Thursdays run from 9pm to 3am. Entry is £3 before 11pm, and £5 afterwards.

Another star, this time from the world of TV, is set to appear at the club tonight.

Scott Maslen, who plays Jack Branning in BBC soap opera EastEnders, will meet and greet clubbers.

The actor, also known for his role as DS Phil Hunter in the Bill, picked up the title of Sexiest Male at this year’s British Soap Awards.

Doors open from 9pm to 4am, and entry is £3 before 11pm, and £5 afterwards.
