Up to 320 jobs are set to be created at a new superstore.

Plans for a new Sainsbury’s supermarket and a health centre in South Woodham Ferrers have been made public.

They will be built on land occupied by Crouch Vale Nursery and Plantworld in Burnham Road.

Also within the supermarket plans is a petrol station and 479 parking spaces, plus a new roundabout at the Burnham Road and Hullbridge Road junction. Minor surgery and physiotherapy could be provided at the health centre with services from Greenwood Surgery, Kingsway Surgery and Brickfields Surgery moving into the building.

Kensington and Edinburgh Estates and Development Securities are behind the plans which will displayed in Champions Manor Hall, Hullbridge Road, tomorrow and Saturday. Spencer Cooper, from the company, said: “We have been working on these plans for several months and we believe they address two aspirations in the town – to increase choice and competition for food shopping and to improve local health facilities and provision.”

Residents can see the plans tomorrow between 10am and 7pm and on Saturday from 10am to 3pm.

A planning application has yet to be made to Chelmsford Council.
