THE airport industry continues to create new employment opportunities in Essex.

Last week’s Jobs Fair at Stansted helped to showcase more than 300 jobs on offer at, or near to, the international airport.

Marcella M’Rabety, the airport’s corporate social responsibility manager, said: “The jobs fair gave aspiring airport workers a unique opportunity to meet potential employers from across Stansted.”

The event was organised by Stansted Airport in partnership with the airport’s Employment and Skills Academy.

Thirty employers attended the event. More than 300 full-time and part-time positions were on offer.

Alongside the airport’s recruitment team, exhibitors included airline handling agents, shops, restaurants, hotels and transport providers.

Marcella said: “Airports such as Stansted are large employers with an enormous range of jobs and careers that appeal to a wide range of people and suit varied lifestyles.  It’s essential we have a talented pool of people wanting to work at Stansted.

“By partnering with our on-site academy, we can support recruitment opportunities by helping to make sure we play our part in developing the skills and confidence of those seeking to work at Stansted.”

Job seekers were able to meet potential employers face-to-face and get careers advice.

They were able to receive guidance about the application process and find out more about free training opportunities and existing vacancies.

Marcella added: One of the benefits of working at the airport is the wide range of public transport discounts available to staff.”

A particular attraction is the “airport travel card”, which offers significant savings on standard rail, bus and coach fares.
