The events team at the Gazette and Essex County Standard has a vacancy for a co-ordinator to join them in handling their fast-expanding and wide ranging portfolio, which includes the prestigious Ultimate Essex Wedding shows.

The role of the assistant events and telesales coordinator involves dealing with exhibitors both face-to face and on the phone, so a high level of customer experience is a core requirement.

Kelly Roast joined the company 15 years ago and moved to the events team in 2012, originally set up in 1994.

“During my time with the team, I’ve seen our shows grow from strength to strength,” says Kelly. “As well as organising the events, ensuring their smooth running on the day, and keeping clients and exhibitors happy, we also work hard to keep constantly up to date with current trends.

“Being alert to customer feedback is a key part of this process. It can all be quite manic, especially in the two weeks leading up to an event.”

The job can have some unexpected perks.

Kelly says: “When I got married ten years ago, I found many of the suppliers for my wedding at the show while assisting the events team on the day. Many of those exhibitors still attend which proves the success of these shows.”

The role would be suited to a well-organised individual with a natural drive and ability to achieve expectations, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. The events team is a small team located within the advertising department, and working alongside the administration and sales teams.

Kelly says: “It would be great to have another creative, forward-thinking member of the team, with a good sense of humour, who can bring fresh ideas to our events.”
