A special  event devoted to the development of skills in the workplace will be held by Rochford District Council.

The Skills Summit, on Thursday, October 9, will focus on key topics such as apprenticeships, business development, training and staff recruitment and welfare.

Councillor Mike Steptoe, responsible for enterprise at Rochford District Council, said: “The summit will address the joint interests of businesses who are looking for the right staff, and employees and jobseekerswho want to know what the opportunities are in the jobs market.”

The summit will follow the pattern of similar events hosted by the council. It will take the form of an early breakfast meeting.

Throughout the morning, a series of briefing sessions will be provided by specialists. They will provide a comprehensive guide to employment considerations for those running a business.

The event will also provide local businesses with the opportunity to meet the council’s economic development team and to network with other businesses,.

Mr Steptoe said: “I am delighted we have been able to bring together a wide range of organisations that are willing and able to provide information, advice and support.”

The event is free. Booking in advance is essential due to catering requirements.
