SOUTH Essex College students were treated to a talk from staff at London Southend Airport during a travel and tourism industry week.

A variety of speakers told about their jobs and range of roles available at the airport, including front-of-house supervisor, airport development co-ordinator and community affairs co-ordinator.

Travel and tourism and aviation operations students from the college’s Southend and Thurrock campuses received advice from the employees and learnt about the career journeys of the speakers.

James Dujakovic, 16, from Leigh, studies Level 3 aviation operations, and said: “It’s given me such an insight into the industry. I want to be a pilot but now I know there are other roles if that doesn’t work out.”

Hannah Lo Bao, head of customer service and business aviation at the airport, said: “It’s great to show students the wide variety of opportunities at their local airport.”
