ARTIST Brian Parker will be holding his first one-man show in Leigh this month.

Titled People Places and Things, the show will take place at the Faux Gallery, Broadway, from July 23 until July 29.

Brian, who is entirely self taught and didn't start painting seriously until later in life after he retired six years ago, said: "I'm really excited about exhibiting in Leigh for the first time.

"The exhibition will include work made over the last 12 months, including lots of dancers and a look back at some local landmarks.

"I will be in the gallery all week if anyone wants to come by to talk about the work or meet me."

Brian is noted for his use of blocks of bold colour and geometric shapes.

He admits there is "not much emotion" in what he does, but says he "interested in colour, composition and being abstract".

People, Places and Things will have an opening event on Saturday July 23 from 3:30pm until 5:30pm.

The gallery will be open daily thereafter from 11am until 5pm.
