BANDS and musicians helped a charity raise money with a live music event.
A number of groups performed at the Oxfam shop, Twenty One, The Dickens and Annie’s Bar & Bistro, all in Southend, as part as Oxjam to raise money for Oxfam.
Matt McDowell, festival manager for Oxjam, said: “It’s been a great experience and brilliant to see the community come together and engage in something really fun and positive. I’ve loved being part of this to raise money towards such a good cause.”
Oxfam deputy manager Stuart Short said: “The event has got new people to come into the shop and look at Oxfam in a different way. We hope to get younger people involved in the Oxfam vision ‘Make poverty history’.” Shop manager Lauren Scotto added: “Many people don’t even know the Oxfam shop is here, so when we get involved in events like this it brings new customers in and raises awareness of the work that we do here.”
The event raised more than £150, which will go straight to Oxfam, and Oxfam Southend’s Build a Farmyard appeal.
